How To Restart Oticon Rechargeable Hearing Aids

Common Hearing Aid Problems You Can Fix Yourself

How to turn Oticon More miniRITE R off and on

Hearing aids are remarkable devices however, like anything mechanical, they are prone to breakages. If you have one of the common problems with your hearing aid listed below, here are some simple remedies that you can perform on your own. Remember, though, that if youve tried to fix your hearing aid on your own and there are still issues, do not hesitate to visit your audiologist or hearing professional to help test both your hearing aid and your own hearing.

1. Hearing aid appears to be dead

One major cause of your hearing aid not working is if the battery is dead or only has a minimal life left. If your hearing aid stops working altogether, the first thing to do is to change the battery. Some hearing aid models are relatively small, as are their batteries. If you cant replace the battery yourself, ask someone with nimble fingers to replace the battery for you.

Another common reason that your hearing aid has stopped working is that the receiver tube may be blocked. Over time, ear wax can build up and accumulate in your receiver tube. While routine cleaning is essential to maintaining your hearing aid, even the best of intentions can get messed up. Do your best to remove any blockage from the hearing aid and give it a good cleaning. Most hearing aids come with a cleaning kit, so use this to maintain the integrity of your hearing aid.

2. Hearing aid isnt loud enough

3. Hearing aid performance is inconsistent

4. Hearing aid sounds distorted or unclear

What To Do If Your Hearing Aid Is Off

There are several troubleshooting solutions your audiologist might ask you to try first. To start, check the battery. Remove it and ensure that you reinsert it in the correct position. If it still doesnt switch on, inspect it for a blockage or damage. Look for a build-up of wax or debris, as this might be blocking the sound. Look at the manual for any other suggestions. If youre hearing aid keeps shutting off, make an appointment with an audiologist. They will be able to make any urgent repairs.

What Is The Impact

The connection between the ON app and the hearing instrument will not be available until the user unpairs and repairs the hearing instruments with the iPhone. The user will be unable to control the hearing aids through the app until this is done. Please be assured that the hearing aid will continue to function and stream normally, and users will still be able to control the hearing instruments through the iPhones MFI menu and perform other functions such as streaming and hands free communication. Users will not be able to activate the shortcut for the MFI menu , but the MFI menu can still be accessed through the Settings app.

    How To Fix The Problems

Anyway, enough cursing at Bluetooth, you people came here to find out how to fix the problem when it arises. We will look at some of the general issues we have heard and discuss quick fix jobs and the possible nuclear options. Before we look at the issues, we need to say that you need to always make sure that you are running the most up-to-date app, the most up-to-date software on your phone and your hearing aids have the most up-to-date firmware onboard.

Audio streaming to one ear only: This happens some times because your body gets in the way of streaming. Moving your phone from where it is, often fixes it. If however, that doesn’t do the job, turn your Bluetooth off, then on again, more often than not fixes the issue. If not, you can then try to turn your hearing aids off and on. If that fails, you need to begin considering the nuclear option, forget the devices on your phone and in your hearing aids app. Then restart your phone and re-pair them. In general, that solves all problems.

The app refuses to connect: Try turning your hearing aids on and off, then try to connect. You can then turn the Bluetooth on the phone off and on. If it stubbornly refuses, you need to forget the devices on your phone in the Bluetooth devices list and in your hearing aids app. Restart your phone and then re-pair them.

I am profoundly hearing impaired and this is the only brand I know of that can help. wearing them and upgrading every few years for about 20 years. I have shopped with several audiologists and came back to the one I found 15 years ago.

    ELIZABETH, VERIFIED CUSTOMER

Sound is great, hearing things I havent heard in years! Fit is good once my provider did some adjustments.

    RHONA, VERIFIED CUSTOMER

For the past month now, I can put them in in the morning and they are working fine but either one will lose the connection to my Bluetooth and only one will let the sound come in from my phone. I can restart the connection but it will not stay connected. Very disappointed right now.

    Troubleshooting Your Rechargeable Hearing Aids

    • The charger and hearing aids require the temperature to be between +41°F to +104°F.
    • The charger LED remains turned off when the charger is connected
    • The charger is not switched on = Verify the power supply is connected correctly
    • The charger LED shows long red blinks
    • The hearing aid or charger is too warm = Move the charger and hearing aids to a different location
    • The charger LED repeated shows 3 short red blinks
    • The charger is too cold = Move the charger to a different location
    • Or system error = Contact your audiologist
  • When the hearing aids IN CHARGER:
  • Blinking green = 81-99% charge
    • Staying red OR no indicator light at all = Battery error, action required
    • The hearing aid must be reset by activating the stock mode.
    • Press the lower part of the rocker switch for at least 11 seconds, and then place the hearing aid in the charging case for 30 seconds or until the light indicator starts to blink.
  • The hearing instruments will emit a signal tone to indicate the battery is low, and the alert will be repeated every 15 minutes for approximately 1.5 hours until charged.
    • If the fully charged hearing instruments do not last over a full 16 hour day of use , then we recommend having the hearing aids sent in for repair.
  • The LEDs correspond to each hearing aid.
  • Glowing green = Charging
    • Solid green = Fully charged
    • Note: When charging without the charger cord, the LEDs will turn off when the hearing aids are fully charged to save battery.

My Hearing Aids Arent Producing Any Sound

  • Visually examine the hearing aid. Is there earwax blocking the microphone opening or sound outlet? Carefully clean away any debris. If the hearing aid has visible damage, contact your hearing care provider.
  • Make sure your hearing aid is turned on. If your hearing aids are rechargeable, make sure the charging unit is plugged in and you are docking your hearing aids correctly. If your hearing aids use disposable batteries, make sure the battery door is closing correctly. If the battery door wont shut easily, the battery is likely upside down. Take the battery out, flip it and try inserting again. If placed properly, the door will close easily.
  • Turn up the volume with your hearing aid app or directly on the hearing aid. If you have a manual volume control wheel, adjust the wheel up and down a couple of times to make sure it’s all the way on.
  • Toggle between the custom programs or memories. If you have a button to change settings, press it and listen for several minutes to see if that makes a difference.
  • If the batteries are disposable, it may be time to replace the battery. If you have a hearing aid battery tester, check the voltage of the old battery to confirm its dead before activating a new battery by removing the sticker. After you remove the sticker to activate a fresh battery, wait two minutes before inserting them into your hearing aids to allow time for air to activate them.
