I Am Not A Human Being Series And Tha Carter Iv
In an interview on MTV’s Mixtape Monday, Carter asserted the possibility of Tha Carter IV. He later announced that it would be released in late 2009 before the holiday season.Birdman had previously stated that Tha Carter IV would be packaged with Rebirth as a double disc album. However, Carter denied this idea saying that “Tha Carter IV deserves Tha Carter IV“, adding that We Are Young Money may be packaged with Rebirth. However, both albums were released separately.
Originally thought to be an EP, Carter released his tenth album, I Am Not a Human Being, on his 28th birthday, September 27, 2010. The album has sold over 953,000 copies in the U.S. and spawned successful single “Right Above It“, which peaked at No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100. Tha Carter IV was later delayed into 2011, after Lil Wayne began recording from scratch after his release from prison. He described his first song since his release as “a 2010 version of A Milli on steroids”. The album’s lead single, “6 Foot 7 Foot” featuring Cory Gunz, was released on December 15, 2010, and made available for digital download on iTunes on December 16, 2010. The song is produced by Bangladesh, who also produced “A Milli”.

The plan was an initiative that sought to uplift Black communities across the country through a $500 billion investment. Lil Wayne commemorated the occasion on social media, tweeting:

If you didnt show up today with HIV/AIDS, any of them deadly sexually transmitted diseases that will make you die in 2 3 weeks, put ya cellphone light in the air. Fellas, if you aint sucking d*ck in the parking lot, put ya cellphone light in the air. Keep it f*cking real!

For his part, Lil Nas X has refused to cave to the pressure from homophobes eager to see him exit the industry. Instead of playing into the respectability politics of what straight fans and artists would prefer to see, Nas X released a music video, Industry Baby, featuring the naked male physique prominently, and with a straight male rap artist on the track. To promote Montero, he trolled haters with his prosthetic pregnancy, a metaphor for the birth of his debut album.
But beyond his social media clapbacks, Nas X uplifts and contributes financially to the very causes he speaks about.
At the 2021 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday, the artist boldly raised awareness for people living with HIV and AIDS. He wore a black shirt with the number 433,816 in red to represent the number of people living with HIV in the South.
Moreover, ahead of his Montero album, Nas X released a baby registry which listed several LGBTQ+ and social justice charities for his fans to donate to. Hes also partnered with the Gilead Compass Initiative, which has committed $100 million over 10 years to address HIV-related health disparities, build awareness, and reduce stigma, according to a report from Tennessee Lookout.

Lil Wayne: How Did It Come To This
On Jan. 6, 2021, a sea of confederate banners, Make America Great Again hats, and flags embossed with the TRUMP 2020 logo punched through the glass of the U.S. Capitol and attempted a coup of the government. Someone reenacted George Floyds death on the Capitol steps and another person flew the confederate flag in the hall of the Capitol. In the chaos that ensued, multiple people were killed in lieu of showing support for the soon-to-be outgoing President Donald Trump, who maintains that the election was rigged since he lost.
A month prior, on Dec. 11, 2020, rapper Lil Wayne, whose real name is Dwayne Michael Carter Jr., pleaded guilty to felony gun charges and was scheduled to be sentenced to 10 years in prison. According to a Department of Justice press release, the charge stems from a December 2019 arrest, when Florida police searched his private plane and found a gold-plated Remington 1911, .45-caliber handgun loaded with six rounds of ammunition. And since Carter had already been convicted of a felony, his possession of the gun and ammunition was illegal. Not to mention he was in possession of cocaine, ecstasy, and oxycodone. He was scheduled to be sentenced on Jan. 28, but a pardon from former-President Trump allowed him to avoid jail time.
Wayne, however, may have foreshadowed dodging a bullet for his actions just two months before.
But before that, a suicide attempt would come first.
Free Weezy Album And Tha Carter V
On February 10, 2014, Drake tweeted “CARTER V”. On October 18, 2013, Cash Money Records Vice President of Promotion Mel Smith, tweeted: “Happy Friday!! New YMCMB music coming soon!! Carter 5.” Nearly four months later, in an interview with The Griffin, released on February 14, 2014, Smith spoke on the upcoming album: “We’re very close to dropping the album. It’s going to be a huge surprise to everyone, it’s an incredible album … I can’t release the date because he wants to surprise people, he wants his true fan base to get excited, but he’s worked extremely hard on it and you won’t be disappointed.” On February 15, 2014, during the NBA All-Star Weekend festivities at Sprite’s NBA All-Star concert at the House of Blues in New Orleans, Carter appeared as a special guest during Drake’s set and performed various hits. Carter and Drake then announced that Tha Carter V would be released on May 5, 2014. However, on March 27, 2014, Carter’s manager Cortez Bryant announced that the album had been delayed. Carter then serviced Tha Carter V‘s first single “Believe Me“, which features vocals from Drake, to mainstream urban radio in the United States on May 6, 2014. Three more singles, “Krazy“, “Grindin'” and “Start a Fire” , were also released for the album.

Conflict With Lil Wayne
On December 4, 2014, just five days before Tha Carter V was scheduled to be released, Wayne issued a statement saying the album would not be released due to his displeasure with Birdman refusing to release the album, although it had been completed. Wayne also expressed his feelings by stating he felt he and his creative partner were being held “prisoner”. Lil Wayne filed a lawsuit. On January 20, 2015, Wayne self-released Sorry 4 the Wait 2, a sequel to his 2011 mixtape, to compensate for the continued delay of Tha Carter V. Upon the release of Sorry 4 the Wait 2, it was noted that Wayne dissed Birdman and Cash Money Records several times throughout. Birdman was reportedly upset with this. In late January 2015, Lil Wayne filed a $51 million lawsuit against Birdman and Cash Money over the delay of Tha Carter V.
On April 12, 2017, Birdman announced that he had accepted a plaque in honor of Cash Money Records having sold one billion units.
On September 13, 2018, it was announced that Young Money was no longer a joint business venture with Cash Money. Ownership of the imprint was granted entirely to Lil Wayne as part of the legal settlements with Birdman that were finalized.

Rappers Who Suffer From Serious Medical Conditions
Last week, Miami rapper Trina was hospitalized after collapsing in a Florida airport. According to reports, Trina’s unexpected collapse was caused by “dehydration and overexertion” and she was later released from the hospital that day.
While the cause of Trina’s collapse seems to be relatively minor, many members of hip-hop’s elite happen to suffer from far more serious conditions than a lack of proper hydration. Over the years, rappers have revealed that they suffer from a host of maladies that affect their regular everyday lives. In the 40 years of hip-hop’s existence, artists have announced that they suffer from everything from asthma to AIDS.
XXL is looking back today at 8 rappers who have announced that they suffer from serious medical conditions.

More Money Flows To Hiv Research Cure On The Horizon
Signs of hope have surfaced as more money has flowed into HIV research initiatives in recent weeks.
The Collaboratory of AIDS Researchers for Eradication, led at the UNC HIV Cure Center, received a $26.2 million award to expand its research. Similarly, Emory University received a $23 million grant from the National Institutes of Health to do the same.
In August, The Human Rights Campaign, the nations largest civil rights organization for LGTBQ people, announced the release of the nations first in-home testing kit program for HIV.
Importantly, research on a cure for HIV has also expanded. On September 21, 2021, NIH released a report that found reduced levels of HIV in mice after infecting them with a protein.
From the study: Researchers used exosomes, tiny nanoparticles capable of being taken up by cells, to deliver novel protein into the cells of mice infected with HIV. The protein attached to HIVs genetic material and prevented it from replicating, resulting in reduced levels of HIV in the bone marrow, spleen, and brain.
Amazingly, one study for a total cure of HIV using CRISPR gene-editing technology has recently received FDA approval to begin human trials.
Current treatments for people living with HIV limit the ability of HIV cells to replicate, allowing people to live relatively healthy and much longer lives than those diagnosed in the 1980s, at the height of the epidemic.
